Work is progressing on renovations for Fire Station 62 on 3777 Dayton-Xenia Road. The renovations are designed to bring the station up to current building codes and increase space to accommodate additional firefighters.

Updates to the living quarters of Beavercreek Township Fire Station 62 include additional bunk rooms for mixed genders, new kitchen appliances and cabinets, multiple bathrooms with showers for mixed genders, separate laundry rooms for uniforms and linens and soiled fire gear, a fitness room, and ADA compliant public restroom.

Other renovations include new plumbing and electrical, roof repair and building structure reinforcements to comply with current building codes. The station, built in 1963, was originally designed as a volunteer fire station. New additions to the original building are being added to accommodate the additional personnel of a full-time fire department and to modernize the facility.

The old Huntington Bank building across the street from the Beavercreek Post Office on Dayton-Xenia Road had stood empty for years. But passers-by have noticed a welcome change to the once vacant property. The building is the new home to the St. Luke Parish Federal Credit Union.

The credit union purchased the 17,690 square foot building in August of 2008 for $399,000. This year the sign went up and renovations on the building were completed. The building passed final inspection September 1, 2009.

The credit union’s new building rests on .406 acres of land located at 3562 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek and features two drive-up tellers and a drive-up ATM. The property is across from the Beavercreek Post Office and sits next to the Greene County Library. The building, built in 1973, has been home to a number of banks over the years including Gem Savings, First National and Huntington National Bank.

The new location is the fourth for the credit union that was formed in 1958 to serve the Parish of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Beavercreek. Since that time the credit union has extended it’s service to 9 other churches in Montgomery and Greene Counties including St. Brigid Parish in Xenia, St. Augustine in Jamestown, St. Paul in Yellow Springs and Queen of Apostles in Beavercreek. The credit union also serves St. Anthony, Holy Angels, Corpus Christi, Queen of Martyrs, Our Lady of Mercy and Mary Queen of Peace School in Dayton.

North Fairfield El Toro Nearing Completion

The new El Toro on North Fairfield will be the second location in Beavercreek, joining another El Toro opened last year on Indian Ripple Road in the shopping center across from The Greene.

The value of the seven-year tax credit is estimated at approximately $847,856 over the term. The company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 14 years.

Cornerstone was founded in April 1997 to provide research and development services which combine creative science and engineering to discover, develop, and deliver innovative materials-based solutions for commercial and government markets.

The project in the City of Xenia includes the construction of a 90,000 square-foot research and development laboratory and manufacturing campus, which will grow to include office and meeting space.

Ohio was in competition with Indiana and Kentucky for the more than $16.8 million project, creating 130 new full-time jobs and retaining 75 existing full-time jobs within the first three years of the project’s initial operations.

The building will be a two-story, 21,258 square foot medical building. The first floor will have a patient treatment area and 28 exam and procedure rooms. The second floor will serve predominately as offices and support area for the medical personnel. The second floor will also contain a few specialized procedure rooms, namely the x-ray and mammogram areas and will contain student studios, as well as 2 large classrooms able to accommodate up to 24 students each.
