Putin tells Trump that Moscow is open for dialog

Russian president Vladimir Putin has extended an invitation to USA president Donald Trump to discuss policy between the two nations in 2019.

A year ago to the day, Putin struck a similar note in his holiday message to Trump as he looked forward to a year of "cooperation" between the two countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a letter to his USA counterpart Donald Trump, has said Moscow is ready for dialogue on a "wide-ranging agenda", the Kremlin said.

The Kremlin said in March that Russian Federation would cut its defence budget to less than 3 per cent of the gross domestic product within the next five years.

The calendars are reported to be selling especially well in Japan, where website SoraNews24 said Mr Putin had achieved "an nearly cult-like status among some Japanese women". "On multiple occasions I've said I am willing to meet, we have a number of issues to discuss, including our bilateral agenda".

At the end of November, Trump abruptly canceled a planned meeting with Putin on the sidelines of a G20 summit in Argentina, citing tensions after Russian forces opened fire on Ukrainian Navy boats before seizing them and capturing 24 Ukrainian sailors.

After the surprise announcement of the withdrawal of United States forces from Syria, Russia and Turkey agreed on Saturday to "coordinate" their actions on the ground, including the return of refugees and the creation of a demilitarised zone in Idlib, the last bastion of rebels in the country.

The ministry also said that the Russian military had deployed Pantsir-S and S-400 complexes this year in Crimea, annexed from Ukraine in 2014, as well as in its Arctic region, the Kaliningrad exclave on the Baltic Sea, and in its eastern-most Khabarovsk region.

Addressing President Erdogan, Putin underlined the "promising direction" of relations between Moscow and Ankara after the completion of the offshore phase of the TurkStream gas pipeline underneath the Black Sea and the start of work on Turkey's first nuclear power station, which is being built by Russian Federation.
