More Android Users are Switching to iPhone

Apple's new iPhoneXR represented 32 percent of Apple phone sales in the first 30 days it was available

Earlier this week, rumors suggested Apple and Foxconn are moving part of the production of 2019 iPhones from China to India.

Apple has been trying to make its iPhones more broad-based in terms of the user community. According to Reuters, Apple India will most likely assemble the latest top-tier iPhones in India through the local unit of Foxconn - the Taiwanese manufacturer, who now assembles iPhones in China and Xiaomi phones in India. There could be any number of reasons for that, but we wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone XR's lower price tag of $749 is the main culprit.

Apple's cheaper iPhone models (SE and 6S) are already made in India, but this is the first time newer models, like the X family, will be produced there.

The Hindu recently reported it, wherein the newspaper underlined that Foxconn plant would be initiating the production of several iPhones. While the XR's overall sales may have proven disappointing to Apple so far, a recent report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners revealing specific sales data is more optimistic. Last year, Apple launched the evolutionary iPhone 8 and 8 Plus first. During its first month, the device attracted 16 percent of Android users, while the iPhone X only had 11 percent during the same initial period of availability.

Some analysts have concerns that the 2018 iPhone models have sold poorly.

It is possible that Apple would also re-start the production of the iPhone X in the Indian Foxconn plant in a move to capture a bigger chunk of India's rapidly growing mobile phone market.

Moreover, it is also not clear if any iPhone assembly is being shifted to existing Foxconn facilities in China or somewhere else. It is however unclear whether the production will be confined to assembly or include any component production in the country.
