Some iPad Pros ship a little bent, and Apple says that’s normal

Apple says some 2018 iPad Pros ship with a bent body, but claims this is normal

Apple states that this issue is part of the tablet's manufacturing process and won't get worse over time, or impact the iPad's performance in any way.

Another reason Apple dismissed this being too serious an issue saying the average return rates have been quite normal so far.

Don't worry, Apple says.

In a recent comment to The Verge, Apple has confirmed the bend, but doesn't really consider it as a defect.

Several complaints popped up online about iPad Pros being shipped with a bent chassis.

It boasts masses of power, a brilliant screen and a redesigned body.

"This is just ridiculous!"

One customer on a MacRumors forum said his iPadPro had bent easily, despite him treating the device "like a baby". The Verge asked Apple if it has communicated this problem with their stores being that they had read some accounts of employees telling people it's accidental damage and warrants an AppleCare+ claim (and deductible) to replace. Furthermore, the company explains that the bending shouldn't worsen over time and the performance of the device is not in any way impacted. Now that users are reporting the same issue with the 2018 iPad, Apple may be trying to avoid the same level of controversy by tagging it as normal. The issue comes from some questionable structural choices by Apple which include putting a microphone and the USB-C connector at the middle the iPad's side, reducing the overall durability of the side metal strip. Apple has said that slight bending could be found in both 11-inches and 12.9-inches models. However, some buyers of the model Wi-Fi also argue that faced with a similar. The tablet sports a 9.7-inch Multi-Touch Retina display with the resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels alongside the pixel thickness of 264 ppi.

Apple CEO Tim Cook referred to it as a "magical piece of glass that transforms into whatever you want it to be".
