Border agents in Arizona arrest MS-13 member for entering USA illegally

Another 3000 migrants are on their way in two separate caravans.

Six men and one woman jumped or slipped over the border barrier in Tijuana and were quickly detained by customs and border protection agents.

Lazo-Ramos told agents he traveled with the caravan through unsafe parts of Mexico for his safety, then crossed the border illegally because he has a criminal record in the United States.

Homeland Security said he and the two men he was caught with are being processed for deportation.

Hundreds of migrants boarded buses at the overcrowded sports complex within view of the border for the trip to the new shelter about 10 miles (15 kilometres) from the border crossing at Otay Mesa and 14 miles (22 kilometres) from San Ysidro, where asylum claimants line up.

But city officials planned to stop offering food and medical services at the Benito Juarez sports complex next to the border Friday, and any migrants who stay will have to find their own food, Magallanes said.

USA authorities say assailants threw a "hail of rocks" at agents, striking four who escaped serious injury. Authorities on the U.S. side of the border used tear gas to disperse the migrants.

On Saturday night after he crossed the USA border illegally, border patrol officials arrested a Honduran man who had been convicted of murder. They were accused of illegally entering the country, which is a federal crime.

Officials say one Border Patrol agent was hospitalized after multiple agents were assaulted by illegal immigrants near Tucson. Still others escaped prosecution because in the chaos surrounding Sunday's incident, authorities missed pieces of information necessary to file charges, such as the names of the officers who made arrests.

Numerous migrants admit frankly that, when they set out, they had no real strategy beyond reaching the United States border.

USA authorities are working on a new system to better record evidence if similar circumstances arise in the future, the official said.

CNN does not know the current status of those that were arrested.

"They make the decision for a variety of reasons", Ivonne Aguirre, a program coordinator with the International Organization for Migration, which is assisting migrants with returning home, told the Washington Post.
