Australia went to great lengths to prepare for a Pakistan spin contingent led by Yasir Shah, even flying in a pair of Indian wrist-spinners to face in the nets before the first Test.

Mohammad Abbas torpedoed Australia for the second time in four days as Pakistan secured a series-sealing, 373-run win in the second Test in Abu Dhabi.

He claimed figures of 8-64 against England at Lord's at the start of the summer in the drawn series.

Speaking to the media at Sialkot airport, the 28-year-old who hails from Sambrial Tehsil, said, "I knew that one day God would reward me for my hard work".

Abbas finished the series with 17 wickets in two matches and was named man of the match and man of the series for his exploits. "The way he bowled, he was the best bowler on either side".

Former captain Steve Smith and ex-opening batsman David Warner have not featured after being banned for 12 months for their part in the incident.

"I am not so surprised at this win", said Sarfraz.

"It was nothing unusual, they were also playing. The way we recovered from 57-5 on day one was remarkable".

Man of the match Abbas continued his phenomenal series to snare 10 wickets across both innings as Australia fell short of their first Test series victory in Asia since 2011.

"He (Abbas) challenged our defence and was too good for us".

Paine, who took over the captaincy in the wake of Smith's suspension, said the defeat was "hard to swallow".

Khawaja, who batted for nearly nine hours in Dubai last week to earn Australia a draw in the first Test, may need to undergo surgery on his meniscus tear and could be sidelined for eight weeks.

Pakistan and Australia now head into a series of three Twenty20 internationals, with the first in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
