Missing Saudi Journalist: Turkey believes Saudi reporter killed

Missing journalist killed in Saudi consulate in Istanbul claim Turkish officials Reports

Another Turkish security source told Reuters that a group of 15 Saudi nationals, including some officials, had arrived in Istanbul in two planes and entered the consulate on the same day Khashoggi was there, and later left the country.

Amnesty International called on Saudi authorities to "immediately disclose the evidence supporting their claim that Jamal Khashoggi left the consulate last Tuesday, otherwise their claims are utterly baseless and only exacerbate suspicions that they are indeed detaining him in what would amount to an enforced disappearance".

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to release a statement on Sunday, according to The Guardian.

In an article published in The Washington Post past year, Mr Khashoggi said a new era of "fear, intimidation, arrests and public shaming" had dawned in Saudi Arabia.

He added: "If America cares about Saudi Arabia, they should be anxious about Saudi Arabia".

Mr Atkay's comments come amid speculation that Khashoggi's body was dismembered after his murder so it could be smuggled out of the consulate in parts.

Khashoggi has been a vociferous critic of Prince Mohammed's policies in both the Arab and Western press. "Jamal was - or, as we hope, is - a committed, courageous journalist".

The source stressed that the Kingdom holds the safety and well-being of its citizens wherever they are and that relevant authorities in the Kingdom are diligently following up on this matter to uncover the complete facts.

"I believe late 2020, early 2021", Prince Mohammed told Bloomberg in an interview published late Friday when asked when he believed the IPO could be launched.

Saudi Consul-General Mohammad al-Otaibi told Reuters on Saturday that the consulate's own security cameras showed only a live stream and did not record footage, so they could not provide evidence of Khashoggi's movements.

The Saudis have since all left Turkey, the sources added.

The 59-year-old journalist is one of the most prominent critics of the crown prince, who has unveiled reforms praised by the West while carrying out an apparent crackdown on dissent, which has seen human and women's rights activists, intellectuals and clerics arrested, and waging a war in Yemen that has triggered a humanitarian crisis.

Never one to mince his words, Khashoggi described a new Saudi era of "fear, intimidation, arrests and public shaming" in an article published in the Post past year.

Turkey has opened a probe into the disappearance of a Saudi journalist who has not been seen since he went inside the Saudi mission in Istanbul four days ago, the state-run Anadolu news agency said Saturday.

Since Tuesday, Turkish and Saudi authorities have given conflicting accounts about his whereabouts.

Khashoggi is known to have been critical of the Saudi domestic and foreign policies.

The official also vehemently denounced "these unfounded accusations" regarding the alleged killing of the Saudi Journo in the consulate. "I can speak when so many cannot". On Sunday, another official assessed as "high probability" that Khashoggi was killed in the consulate and his body was taken away.
