3 reasons why Sane's exclusion from the German squad makes sense

Sane left out of Germany squad

Unless you have been living under a rock, by now you've surely learned of Germany manager Joachim Low's surprising and controversial decision to leave standout youngster Leroy Sane off of Germany's World Cup squad.

The 22-year-old played a key role for Manchester City who won the English Premier League title and Carabao Cup.

A player once heralded as "the future" of the national team, Sané has scored 14 goals and provided 19 assists with his club this season in 49 games in all competitions.

Despite Sane's fine performances this season, Low has instead favoured Bayern Leverkusen's winger Julien Brandt.

However, despite his talent, Sane was not included in Low's Germany 23-man squad travelling to Russian Federation this month to compete in the World Cup.

"It was a very tight decision between him and Julian Brandt which went in favour of Brandt", Loew said. Draxler, Reus and Muller are set. He had not arrived in global matches yet.

Fellow Manchester City teammate Kyle walker took to Instagram to show how shocked he was, while fans took to Twitter to reveal their frustration at Sane's ommission from the World Cup.

"There are certainly easier days in the life of a national team head coach than the day where I have to send four payers home".

'It's as if you are stood at the check in desk for your flight to Moscow, but are then prevented from boarding'.

Germany are in Group F along with Sweden, Mexico and South Korea.
