The East of Chicago Pizza store, located in the shopping center that also houses Kroger on Dayton Xenia Road, has closed it’s doors. The location in Kettering has also been closed.

The pizza place had a brief history in what many call Beavercreek’s “Pizza Triange”. Within just half a mile from the East of Chicago Pizza were 7 other pizza places including Marion’s Piazza, Pizza Hut, Dominos Pizza, Papa John’s Pizza, Papa Murphy’s, Rockafella’s Pizza, Rocky’s Pizza Ring and Donato’s Pizza. Three of those other competing pizza places were within a 2 minute walk of the now closed East of Chicago Pizza.

Many wondered whether the location was the best choice given so much nearby competition for the pizza dollar. Within the last two years another pizza place up the road, DVD Pizza, closed it’s doors as well. That location now houses Rockafella’s Pizza. Pizza seems to be a constant in the so called “Pizza Triangle”.

But the closing of East of Chicago Pizza may have more to do with the franchisee holder. The East of Chicago Pizza in Kettering, on Wilmington Pike, has also been closed. Other locations throughout the Miami Valley remain open.

As a company East of Chicago Pizza is still in business and still has stores throughout Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina and Florida. If you miss their particular brand of pizza and are willing to take a drive, you can still visit the next closest East of Chicago Pizza, which is now the Huber Heights location at 6254 Chambersburg Road.
