In an interview on Fox News, Republican Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee quoted the Miami Valley’s own Charles Kettering in a response. Is the Miami Valley on his mind?
During an interview on Fox News’ Hannity and Colmes on January 12, Huckabee was asked about Senator Thompson’s attack on his record during the South Carolina debate. Huckabee responded it’s just the nature of politics and said, “Charles Kettering said nobody ever stubbed their toe standing still.”

Does the candidate have the Miami Valley on his mind? Wayne Essex from Essex and Associates, Inc., an accounting firm in Beavercreek, hopes so. Wayne is an assistant organizer for the Huckabee campaign and volunteers his offices and large conference room for the campaign’s local meeting needs. Wayne has even invited Mike Huckabee and Chuck Norris, one of Huckabee’s biggest supporters, to visit Beavercreek and southwest, Ohio.
Essex says, “If Huckabee does well in Super Tuesday, and is still a viable candidate, I’m sure we’ll see him here in the Miami Valley sometime in mid-February… maybe even in Chuck Norris also.”
Huckabee’s future campaign plans still depend on how he performs during Super Tuesday, but Essex received a very positive letter from the campaign following his Iowa win (reprinted below). The Republican Primary will be held March 4, 2008.
A note from the Mike Huckabee Campaign. One of our own Assistant Organizers, Wayne Essex has graciously provided a large conference room at his Accounting Firm, in Ohio, for our use.
Everyone did a splendid job getting the petition signatures! Thanks to you and many others, Mike will be on the Ohio Ballot.
We have all been holding our breath waiting to see what would happen in Iowa. Now we know – Thank God!! The holidays are over and it is onward to the Ohio Primary on March 4th – less than two months away. So, as you can imagine, we need everyone to pitch in and help.
New members are joining daily as Mike’s popularity increases. We need the help and talents of the whole group to get this done.
