The 70th district encompasses Beavercreek and Beavercreek Township, Xenia and Xenia Township, Fairborn, and Bath Township. The House seat is currently held by Kevin DeWine who cannot seek re-election due to term limit restrictions. Martin, a lifetime resident of Greene County, filed his petitions last week and announced on Monday that he will seek the Republican nomination in the primary election to be held on March 4, 2008.

Martin has a B.S. in business administration and will complete his MBA at the University of Dayton in May. He and his wife Bernadette have three children. Martin is widely known for his service on Beavercreek City Council as well as his involvement in the community. Martin donates much of his time to such organizations as BCAA little league baseball, the Youth Council, Greene County Family and Children First Council, Greene County Habitat for Humanity, Greene County United Way’s Christmas Assistance Program, and the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association among many others.

Martin, the owner of a small business, said, “I know what it is like to have to meet a payroll each week, pay taxes, and face the challenge of an ever increasing workers’ compensation premium.”

Martin is a member of the Chambers of Commerce of Beavercreek, Fairborn, and Xenia and also participates in the Xenia Chamber’s Young Professionals Committee.

Regarding his reasons for running, Martin said,”This is an opportunity for me to serve a greater number of people on a broader set of issues. I’ve been working for the Republican Party and would like to continue with the established tradition of Republican values in Greene County. I am fiscally conservative and take a common-sense approach to problem solving. I am looking forward to continuing my work with the party as we move ahead. I am excited about Ohio’s future and the future of our district.”

“I take pride in working hard for constituents and being accountable and available to them,” said Martin.
